Here’s a comprehensive list of supplies that you want to have on hand in the event of an emergency. Start with a waterproof box with lid that fits tightly. Make sure you have at least one gallon of water per day/per person for at least 5 days. Don’t count on grabbing these items from your existing supply in your home, unless you already have duplicates.
To easily gather these supplies, add items per grocery shopping trip, then make a trip to your local hardware store or big box retailer to gather the rest. Store this box on a shelf in the garage. Discuss what this box is with your family so they understand that it’s not to be gone through, but saved in the event it’s really needed.
